"What Can States Do to Patch the ‘Leaky Pipeline’ for Teachers of Color?" — It's More Than a Patch.

Strengthening the pipelines of educators with underrepresented identities and experiences: 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗸𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗷𝘂𝗺𝗽 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗲𝗻𝗱...

Let's imagine states 𝘥𝘪𝘥 "explicitly prioritize diversity," and we succeeded at inspiring folks to enter education (or any homogenous industry, for that matter):

🆘 What 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 will be in place for them once they get there?

💛 What 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 has taken place to ensure that the preexisting community is ready to welcome people with different identities?

🫱🏽‍🫲🏿 What fulfilling, genuine reasons do folks have 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙮 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 as well?

Truly transformative approaches to DEI—the "how" that comes next—all emerge from these questions: we're not just raising stats; we're sustaining people.
